PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
[Robot Mode]
For Cybertron standards, Redshift is an attractive male. His form is humanoid and muscular, yet the form is tone and slender as a fine tone martial artist would be. His face is quite handsomely human in shape as if chiseled by an ancient Greko-Roman artist. A thin streak slides down each of his slanted yellow optics as if his tears had permanently stained his face. His face is surrounded by Roman style armor that has side pieces resembling the shape of jagged bird wings. The first two rows of teeth are only slightly sharp; all teeth beyond the the second row are fanged, even the molars.
His chest and shoulders are reinforced by Roman styled armor that appears to be merged with feathers at the edges. A long vulture beak protrudes from the center of the armor downward into the abdomen. The pelvic region has similar Roman gladiator styled armor that has long jagged feathers rather than long leather straps and a long vulture beak down the center.
Every joint has special ornate armor pieces that are jagged and end in a formidable spike. The legs possess a second backward knee that sends a second shin to the talons with three front toes and one rear toe. The shin leading to the talons and the talons are covered in jagged ornate armor. The arms are like the legs in beast mode; however, in robot mode the arms retract the second shin and the two knees join into one elbow, and the rear toe merged into the palm.
All of the armor, beaks, and talons appears as copper toned bronze, and the only feathers he has in robot mode come out around the edges of his armor. The rest of the body and feathers have the color and sometimes the appearance of dark rusted iron.
[Beast Mode]
In robot mode, Redshift gets down on all fours. His arms extend out and the rear toe comes out of his palms; the arms become his front limbs. His armoring begins to stretch out and coat all body parts besides his talons. Hairs sprout all over his body and expand in into a fine coat of feathers. His head and neck fuse to his shoulders as his long open nostril vulture beak slides from his chest over his face. Eye sockets open and reveal birdlike eyes. Some of the pelvic armoring and feathers merged into a coyote shaped tail.
The entire body has the overall shape of a coyote. The head and talons are predominately vulture. There is no fur over the body, just feathers. The color scheme remains the same from robot mode.
WEAPONS & SPECIAL ABILITIES
[Feathers of Wrath] All of Redshifts feathers can be used as projectiles, firing from any place he has feathers. The feathers have the force and penetrating power nearly identicle as standard Decepticon bullets.
[Natural Weaponry] Redshift has an array of claws, fangs, spikes, and talons in both robot and beast modes. All natural weaponry is as sharp as razor sharp comes for Decepticon weaponry.
[Moon & Breeze] Redshift's preferred weapons are two ornate Roman style crescent blades with ancient symbols of Cybertronian engraved into the metal. Both blades are bronze in color with copper patterns. Moon has a circular swirling copper pattern. Breeze has a whispy streaking copper pattern. Moon is shorter and thicker; Breeze is longer and thinner.
[Regeneration & Resistance] Redshift cannot be killed by ordinary means. The only way to cause Redshift a final death is to pierce his spark chamber. Simple wounds will heal on the spot. Large wounds will heal slower, but Redshift will continue to fight on not hindered. Major wounds will cause Redshift to back off to heal in private; he would not be able to move well. Critical wounds for other bots would leave him in a form of stasis lock until his body finishes repairs.
[Echolocation] Redshift can use low frequency sound waves to image his surroundings with pinpoint accuracy even when he has no sight.
EQUIPMENT
[Darkspace Beacon] Redshift was installed with a beacon that allows him to track any Darkspace and the portals back to and from any Darkspace.
TRAITS
[Ultra-Violet Sensitivity] UV rays weaken Redshift's body; so that, his body will oxidize with ions pressent in air, liquid, and ground base atmospheres. The outer superstructure will corrode and crumble away until vital systems are exposed and begin to do the same. The pain is intense. In beast mode, his organic parts protect his underlying superstructure for several minutes under direct UV, or hours if the UV rays are indirect. Under UV, Redshift will often shield his optics from damage by keeping his eyelids shut; he will rely on echolocation during those times.
[Hyperosmia] Redshift has abnormally acute sense of smell.
PERSONALITY
Redshift has lived too long to care about any hobby; by now, he believes he will find boredom at the end of any activity he would attempt to learn or perform. Stories even bore him now. Real life situasions, dramatic situasions, life threatening situasions: those are the only situasions that interest him or get his blood pumping. If anything does not interest him long enough, he often moves on. When you are ancient, you lose all interest in anything meaningless.
Honor, loyalty, and respect are not concepts that Redshift cares about anymore. There was a time when he was a young but no more. Amusement and feeding are his primary motivations. Threaten his life, and you may even give him enough interest to see where you plan to go with it. Even feeding has grown to bore him; he has been know to ask his prey for more creative torture methods in exchange for a quicker death. Mercy may even be grant if Redshift has been amused properly; however, it is not often that a vampire will miss a feeding.
Redshift has been greatly dissatisfied with his peers. Most of his fellow vampires are either too young or too fiercely loyal to their sire by lineage, Vampirus Primeval. He alone has the ability to resist the will of Vampirus Primeval; however, he has learned through experience that he was safer under Vampirus' guidance. An unfortunate failed coupe squashed his hopes to take Vampirus' place; none of the others sided with him. Vampirus simply laughed off his attempts; Vampirus was so amused he just left him without punishment. Redshift lost the will to rebel thereafter.
That had not stopped his will to whine. Complaining about reasonable missions and unreasonable are commonplace for him. He is not lazy; he does work. He simply likes to complain. Hearing himself speak is one of the few things that amuses him regularly. He is probably more spiteful than sarcastic, yet he possesses both in leaps and bounds. He does understand the right time to stop; he would rather not involve himself in a petty squabble (unless it is his way to play with his prey before he feeds).
HISTORY
Prior to the first of the Great Wars, Redshift was once a Decepticon explorer, young and insignificant. He set out to find energon across the galaxy. He once transformed into a vehicle that sampled soil for energon deposits. Following a strong signature, his vessel took him to planet designated Cagnus 4, for the fourth planet from the star Cagnus.
As he approached Cagnus 4, Redshift discovered the remnants of a highly industrialized society of mechanical beings. There were no lifesigns; at least, there were no signs of life as he knew it. Redshift dropped down to investigate an energon production facility in the cover of night. The doors were ripped open. He discovered vat after vat of energon stored in a way to make it easy to detect; the energon was bait. That is when the last survivors of Cagnus 4 came out from hiding, if you could really call them survivors. An ancient force of vampiric evil held back the vampires that were left of Cagnus 4; that force was the being known as Vampirus Primeval. Vampirus looked Redshift over as Redshift was frozen in fear.
An overzealous vampire was suffering from long term hunger; the vampire attacked Redshift resulting in the two rolling and struggling back outside. Redshift rolled over a corpse of an animal that looked like a cross between a vulture and a coyote from Earth; and oddly enough, the creature's fluids had not been drained. The blood from the creature got into one of his open wounds. Vampirus seperated the two and quickly tore the overzealous vampire apart. "I want you for information," Vampirus told Redshift before biting into the wounded Redshift's neck.
As Redshift turned, his wounds seal with the creature's blood inside of him. The blood of the creature caused him to mutate into a type of Predacon. Vampirus Primeval would look down to see Redshift transform into the creature he could not bare to feed on, on the entire planet. Vampirus had too much pride to admit what he had done was a mistake, and he really wished to gather more information about Cybertron.
Redshift had a resistance to Vampirus' commands. In addition, Redshift discovered he could tolerate more of his vampiric weakenesses in beast mode. This allowed Redshift to become a nuissance to Vampirus. Usually, he was no more of a nuissance than a disobedient child. Redshift relied upon Vampirus for knowledge and protection. Overtime, that dependance faded, but Redshift never amounted to anything. There was a failed insurrection; he was a better soldier than persuader. Vampirus often felt his attempts at rebellion were as laughable as teenage rebellion. Redshift always came back and took his place among the other hunters (and as Vampirus' most amusing child).
